Hooray!
You step into the bigger world, and you’re ready to look for a job!
But wait…
Are you really ready?
You prepared your eye-catching, convincing RESUME or CV to get your dream job.
BUT while typing on the computer, you ask yourself, “What should I submit? A resume? or a CV?
Wait a second… They are the same, right?”
NO, NO, NO!
Many people often mistakenly think that a resume is a Curriculum Vitae (CV) and a CV is a resume, but they’d be wrong.
These documents are DIFFERENT! They are two unique documents with different content structures and applications.
As a job seeker, you must be able to tell the difference.
CV (Curriculum Vitae)
✅ came from the Latin word Curriculum Vitae which means “the course of your life”
✅ it’s an in-depth document which is two or more pages and contains a detailed description of your achievements
✅ it covers your education and any other accomplishments like publications, awards, honors, etc.
✅ it is organized chronologically and gives an overview of your full working career
✅ typically used to apply for academic and scientific jobs
✅ if you are from the UK, Ireland, Europe, and New Zealand, you will most likely be using a CV most of the time
Resume
✅ it’s short, typically between one to two pages
✅ focused on a specific career or field and showcases only your most relevant skills and experience
✅ doesn’t have to be ordered chronologically (although I recommend it)
✅ doesn’t have to cover your entire career

You are at the END of the interview and the hiring manager asks you, “Do you have any questions for me?” Many would answer, “Oh no, everything’s fine. I don’t have questions”. Is it okay to answer with a response like this? NO! Not having questions for the hiring manager may make you seem uninterested or not dedicated to the position. Asking questions will also give you a clear picture of what the position is and if it’s really for you. To be sure you are armed with few questions, let’s...
Hey there! What’s up? Last Tuesday, I taught you how to handle a mental block during an interview. Today, let me talk about how important confidence is when trying to land your dream job. People will always tell you to be confident when you are called in for an interview, but this is easier said than done, especially for new job applicants.
